Vinielle Acha-Morfaw of Gaithersburg was crowned Miss Maryland Collegiate America 2014 on August 4, 2013 at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square in Lancaster, Pa. Vinielle will represent the state of Maryland at the national Miss Collegiate America 2014 pageant in Orlando, Florida, July 2014.
Vinielle competed with a platform of "Lung Cancer Prevention: Don't Struggle for Air," in three categories: an individual interview with judges (40%), Evening Gown (40%) and fun fashion (20%).
A biology major at the University of Maryland College Park, Vinielle is studying to become a dentist and The Miss Maryland High School & Collegiate America pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss High School & Collegiate America Pageant and is under the direction of Tracey Jamison.
